Cook Inlet

The Cook Inlet Native Head Start Program serves the indigenous communities surrounding Alaska’s historic Cook Inlet. They came to IDS when they wanted to create a playground that would speak directly to their history and serve as a teaching tool. Working with the community, we created a series of interpretive play sculptures that describe vernacular housing and hunting methods.
