Lexington, Kentucky is just a short drive away from the iconic Red River Gorge (RRG), considered one of the best climbing destinations in the United States. So when the Lexington Parks and Recreation department decided to renovate Northeastern Park, adding bouldering that mimicked the RRG sandstone was a top priority. Through collaboration between the community, dedicated climbers, and our partners at Recreation Insites, the city delivered a timeless element of nature and play to their downtown landscape.
